Hiding the Clutter

Who likes looking at clutter? It overwhelms me and I can't seem to get work done! So, part of my office redo hides it all. I re-purposed a former lingerie chest into a "file cabinet." Seven drawers hold my bills, envelopes, invoices, tax documents, weight scale, packing tape and shipping labels. I painted the chest shabby pink, covered the glass to hide my clutter (card stock taped on the inside) and added oval glass knobs.

The chest was a Valentine's Day gift from my husband several years ago. I recall that day vividly and so does my husband. That evening we were shopping for something special. Shopping with my husband was part of the gift! The minute I saw the tall piece, I loved it. We waited quite some time to have the large box loaded into our car. When we returned home we noticed the chest was damaged. My loving husband agreed to return it the same evening. After all, it was Valentine's Day! We drove back to the store and loaded another large box into our car. Quite a romantic evening!

I was told by the furniture salesman that in the Victorian Era, ladies of means had lingerie chests which typically had 7 drawers holding undergarments for each day of the week! Historical trivia or a sales pitch? Hmmmm. What I do know is that 7 drawers holding office supplies is more practical than holding a week's worth of underwear!

More to come! I'm going slow and steady. . . .

You will soon see how cozy (a nice word for small!) is my office space! I am utilizing any surface area I can to house all of my cutepinkstuff! Bits and pieces are coming together. Of course, life seems to get in the way of finishing yet another project! The final project post is coming soon (I hope!)

Oops, I Forgot One!

I forgot to feature this vintage photo frame on my "Before and After" post. Only recently have I begun to appreciate the design and workmanship of antique pieces! The ornate front detail of this brass frame caught my eye. The back stand is unique as well. It wasn't until I began the makeover that I noticed the top is hinged and opens for insertion of a photo. Wow, "they" don't make frames like this anymore! I was so excited about my find that I didn't notice the glass is missing! In retrospect, I'm quite sure I would have purchased this unusual treasure from the past anyway.

I am reorganizing my home office. I hope to share my "redo" soon!

Before and After

Hmm? Does anyone know what was the original purpose for this ornate piece? It is made of brass and quite heavy. I love that it is elaborate, unique and now PINK! I would re-purpose it for candy on my end table, or paper clips on my desk, or keys, coins and cell phone at my entryway. You can find this one-of-a-kind beauty at www.cutepinkstuff.com!
Gold leaf vs. shabby pink? When I purchased this cherub candle holder, I knew it wouldn't last long in its original state. I find such joy in the thrill of the hunt, but seeing the final pink treasure makes me truly happy! This past week, I painted a treasure trove of special items for you to see at www.cutepinkstuff.com!

Sitting Pretty!

There's something charming about renewing a piece from the past! I purchased this vintage step-stool at an antique shop in Idaho. Rescuing it from a dark basement and giving it a new home brings me joy! All it needed was new padding, pink paint and floral fabric!

I'm having difficulty listing this sweet seat on my website. I love it so! For now, it sits alone covered in a corner out of harm's way and protected from dust. Of course, no one is allowed to sit pretty on my antique treasure!

If a special lady out there promises to give this sweet seat a higher calling than I have, perhaps I can part with it. For now, it remains merely a blog post!

Best Find of the Week!

I cannot tell you how ecstatic I was when I found this old fashioned wire laundry basket! I've seen them in magazines and in antique shops trying not to covet each one I've seen.

I don't know the age of this basket, but it matters not. I don't really have a spot in my home for my find of the week, but that matters not. All I know is that it will bring me joy filling it with beautiful shabby pink fabric!

I don't think I will paint it. I like it as is. The fabrics will add plenty of colorful pink charm!
