What is it?

BEFORE

There have been times when I purchased something not knowing where to put it. This is the first time I purchased something not knowing what it is!I was attracted to the cane detail, ornate scroll design and extra large oval applique. The price was less attractive and the color is never a deal breaker. I knew the whatchamacallit would be painted white and fit in nicely with whateverIhavesofar. What I didn't know was that my loving husband would volunteer to paint it for me! I think he was tired of it taking up space in "his garage."AFTER

The seller told me it was a planter. A friend thinks it's a bassinet. My husband thinks its garage clutter. I think it's a great storage unit for cutepinkstuff, but what is it?

I remember seeing that at your house and commenting that I liked it but didn't know what it was, well, I guess no one REALLY knows what it is but as long as it is white, I know I like it!

Hi Cindy. I am wondering if it is a magazine or book holder. What ever it is, it sure is pretty pretty.
I took a look at my glider yesterday and I have definitely decided that I will paint it. The problem is I have no place to put it when finished. We may be moving so if so I know I will find the perfect spot for it.

Whatever it is, it is beautiful. I tend to thing it was a baby basinet too, but what a find, you lucky girl you!

That is so cute! I don't know what it is, but it does look kind of like a plant stand. Whatever it is it's very pretty!

Wow that is gorgeous! I probably would have bought it too. At first I thought it was a magazine holder but seeing it in the other photos it looks a little big for that. On second thought...it probably is a magazine holder for a person like me that has more magazines than I have room for!

very interesting.....It's beautiful! I'm going to go with a bassinet. It looks to deep to be a planter. I bet in the old days when they had no concern for safety, I bet they just piled it high with mattresses and pillows....

I'm with Cindy, looks like a magazine holder but too large, but we all have tons of mags, so maybe you can use it for that. Whatever it is it's beautiful. What about using it to store pillows (I would use it at the end of my bed for all the extras and some fufu books on top).

What a great find ;)

It is hard to tell without seeing it from the top but is looks like a basket for firewood or kindling.

Hi Cindy,
My guess is that it was used to hold knitting and other hand crafts. It sure is pretty :0)

It's maybe a plant holder. You can put clay pots in it and because it is cane the pots and plants can breathe. Or, it could have been a type of basket w/ feet for sewing/knitting sitting next to your chair. You can use it today for magazines, especially the huge collections we all have! Or it could be a very elegant doll bed.

I love all of your info on vintage jewelry! I have tons of stuff from my mom and grandma, and I know some of it is collectible, but I've never researched it. Hopefully I've been inspired enough to start reading.

I do belive it might be a kindling/woodbox for a bedroom/parlor/sitting room. Too narrow for a bassinet, too deep for a planter. I remember as a child, someone having something similar, in their formal living area. Found your site through romantic home. Great work!
