Quick Fix?

I never thought I'd tire of the mustard yellow and white ceramic tiles above our fireplace. I was wrong. The pink corner cabinet was the catalyst. The tiles have been "bugging" me for awhile, but I didn't give much thought to changing them. It seemed like a big project and my husband would sure to be against it. I was wrong, again! Well, I came up with a quick fix using an old piece of ceiling tin that was inches from being a perfect fit. My husband and I did this quick fix in less that an hour! The next morning, I painted the side of our mantel where paint had scraped off during the fitting process. That led to painting the entire hearth and the gold trim on the glass doors, which led to changing out the wood knobs with glass knobs, which led to cleaning out the fireplace, which led to buying candles, which led to decorating the mantel with a few Halloween decorations, which led to buying a new love seat, which led to rearranging furniture, which led to accessorizing with crown accent pillows. Yes, another "quick fix" project that turned into a time-consuming expensive redo!

I love your look! Very cute! Doesn't it always happen that way, you start a quick easy project and it ends up taken a whole lot more time and money. Glad ya did though.

This post did make me smile and chuckle, isn't it so often the case that a quick something turns into so much more? Well, at least thats how my DH sees it, when I ask him to do something which "will only take a few mins", and he insists that in order to do it he will "have to do at least a dozen other things before and after", which will of course take ages. Sigh.
I do love what you have done with the fireplace, and all the lovely things which followed on from there. Great look.

Hi Cindy, just dropped in to see what you've been up to, and I can see you've been up to a lot! I can't get over this mantle makeover - that tin is absolutely amazing, and I love how pretty the candles look inside. By the way, your space at Agoura looks awesome. I do believe I drooled a little when I was in there.

Hi Cindy,
Yep, that sound familiar to many times to say the least. I like this look so much more, what a difference a little bit can do. I just recently got a corner cabinet for my dining area, and it turn out to be more work than what I wanted it to be. I had to rearrange everything in two rooms because of it.

Enjoy your evening-

What an awesome transformation! I'm so inspired but I have to wait until I can get a place of my own where I don't have roommates who despise vintage :(
